Our Health & Safety Vison

In minimizing risk and to ensure a safe and healthy work environment, PJF Services take the following actions:

  • Maintain and continually improve our Health, Safety & Environmental Management System
  • Proactively identify hazards and unsafe behaviours and take all steps to manage these to as low as reasonably practicable
  • Set targets for improvement and measure, appraise and report on our performance
  • Assess and recognize the health and safety performance of the employees and contractors
  • Consult and actively promote participation with the employees and contractors to ensure they have the training, skills, knowledge and resources to maintain a healthy and safe workplace
  • Accurately report and learn from our incidents
  • Support the safe and early return to work of injured employees
  • Design, construct, operate and maintain our assets so that they safeguard people and property
  • Require our contractors to demonstrate the same commitment to achieving excellence in health & safety performance
  • Comply with relevant legislations, codes of practices (COPS) and industry standards

What we actually do

  1. Our belief in the continual improvement of our systems and processes, assists us in meeting our health & safety objectives
  2. Health and safety is a standard item on the agenda for monthly management meetings
  3. Weekly toolbox meetings are held at each site to discuss any health and safety issues, site-specific hazards, etc. Staff access an electronic check list to assist in maintaining a safe site
  4. Health and safety training requirements are identified and reviewed in each employee’s annual performance review. This ensures that training and qualifications (First Aid, SiteSafe, EWP, Harness Training, etc) are kept current and relevant to job (and client) requirements
  5. Our health & safety manual policy is audited annually with specific items such as fire evacuation practice audited every 2 months and hazard identification daily
  6. PJF actively complies with all relevant legislation, local laws and by-laws, codes of practice and New Zealand standards
